FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Diane,

Q. I have a brain injury and was referred to a neuropsychologist for testing. What is a neuropsychologist and what type  of  testing will be done? Thanks for your help… Karen

A. Dear Karen,

A neuropsychologist is a psychologist who specializes in studying brain behavior relationships. Neuropsychologists have extensive training in the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the nervous system. I specialize in evaluating and treating people who are thought to have something wrong with the way in which their nervous system is functioning.
As neuropsychological workup evaluates the effect of brain dysfunction on your emotional state, behavior and mental function, and assesses discrepancies between your current and former skills and behavior. This evaluation provides a great deal of information about specific neurological deficits and the prognosis for recovery.

If I can be of any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to call,

Warmest Regards, Dr. Diane
